Narcissists (“Cluster B) always recruit people to do their bidding.  Often they choose people from the target  circle of friends. These friends are sometimes referred to as “Flying Monkeys”

There are 5 tactics they use to recruit “Flying Monkeys”. 

1. Mirroring 

2. Data Mining

3. Cognitive Empathy 

4. False Self

5. Future Faking

These tactics have been used by the Natzis, communist fundamentalism and any cult-like society. If a 12 step meeting runs like a cult, the same thing happens. This happened to my home meetings on Friday and Tuesday nights.

In this writing I only focus on Mirroring.  

People with NPD engage in narcissistic mirroring for three primary reasons: 

• They lack a defined identity and are trying on yours. 

• They are working to win you over, reflecting back what they think you want to see. 

• They are faking intimacy, because they lack the skills and desire for genuine connection.

Narcissistic mirroring is highly addictive.  It helps the people that are being groomed to keep falling in love with themselves. 

They do anything to keep the narcissists around and  happy. Narcissists are the source of self admiration for these newly created  “flying monkeys”.

A note for the 12 Steps programs: The narcissistic grooming among the 12 steps community takes the shapes of altruistic virtue. 

In this situation, “Cluster B”  provides an  opportunity  for nobel acts . In this case the person is groomed into becoming  the Golden Child. What an opportunity for the former scapegoats.

But in reality , the narcissists groomed the person to do his bidding against the scapegoat  as shown below.
