Brief History of “Cluster B”
Although there is a frequent appearance of the issue in the movies such as the "Fatal Attraction", it was the great Shakespeare who brought the characteristic of “Cluster B” into the public awareness for the first time.
In his masterpiece Othello, he created the character Lago, which shows the characteristic of what we call nowadays as “Cluster B”(“Narcissistic Personality Disorder” ).
Hundreds of years of denial to accept the truth about the nature of humans.
The truth is that not all of us are up to the task. In the last few hundreds of years , especially after the age of enlightenment , so much effort has been made to equate everyone as the same. phrases such as “we are all children of God” , Equality and many more are examples of these efforts.
As a result we have created equality between psychopath and empath. That is the nature of this misconception.
Gaslight
Several hundred years after Othelo , the Oscar winning movie , "Gaslight", reemphasized the same problem.
It won an Oscar for Ingrid Bergman who played the role of Paula”.
Movies emphasis was on the triangulation of the main characters. The triangulation of the roles of Paula, Gregory and Inspector Brian Cameron, who were played by Ingrid Bergman ,Charles Boyer and Joseph Cotten respectively.
Cape fear
The movie Cape Fear also shows the issue of “Cluster B”. The relationship between Max Cady, Sam Bowden is an example of Cluster B” . Stalking, violence, triangulation and manipulation are some of the characteristics of this relationship.
Fatal Attraction
Like “Cape Fear”, “Fatal Attraction” also shows the issue of “Cluster B”. The relationship between Daniel "Dan" Gallagher , Alexandra "Alex" Forrest . Stalking, violence, triangulation and manipulation are some of the characteristics of this relationship.
Although it is not illegal in the United States , I am hoping this work could help a little to bring the issue into the spotlight for public awareness.
Good news is that the modern world, after centuries of denial, has started taking serious action.
France was the first country to illegalized the emotional Abuse in 2010.
Ireland and England followed suit almost a decade later.
Coercive manipulation is now illegal in England.
The Catholic Church, also after centuries of denial, has acknowledged the narcissistic abuse. in 1976, It allowed it as a condition for annulment in the marriage. That was based on the premise that a narcissist can not perform the human function in a marriage.
Gradual Acts Of Violent:
One thing they all have in common is the “gradual but systematic “ long term attack on “sympathetic nervous nervous system of the victim. This cause substantial damage on hippocampus , amygdala gland and prefrontal cortex.
The image below shows the organs that are affected.
The picture above shows both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
One of “Cluster B”’s favorite weapons is exasperation.
The exasperation effectively activates the sympathetic nervous system and body organs correspond to the situation. The link below is short explanation of the sympathetic nervous system.
